The mountain biking in Kathmandu offers for all levels of riders. Apex the Asia Holidays provides a route of standard level. The route commences from Balaju including the remote town Madkhu, Jhor, and religious place Budhanilkantha.

The trip goes up to an altitude of 2200 meters, the trail settings stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas, terrace fields, open vivacious semi rural culture just outside of the busy city. Exploring the National parks through the rambling single tracks.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 01
    Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport.

    You will be welcomed by our airport representative and take you to your hotel.

  • Day 02
    The day tour begins after your breakfast. The cycling guide will come to your hotel at 7:00AM and take you to the tour. During the tour you will visit:

    It is one of the best single tracks of Kathmandu valley. The track is mixed with off road trails. The meandering track goes through the semi-rural village with outstanding views of local houses, terrace field, and the Himalayas.

    The main commencing point of the track is Balaju, which is located to west from Thamel.

    The place Mudkhu is collecting the popularities in the cycling routes. Every day numerous cyclist are engaging in the route, the cafeteria along the route is the resting place of Mudkhu.

    The trail reaches to Budhanilkantha by crossing the many villages like Chaurgoan, Jhor, and Tokha.

    The track goes through the Bhootkhel, a local ground where normally peoples are playing the football, the views of blue sky and the Himalayas toward the north always attractive. The riding over the curving road is simply a fun. From the Jhor, you can take some snapshots of Kathmandu and unsung beauty of the town. Eventually, you will reach Budhanilkantha.

    It is a Hindu temple located at the base of Shivapuri Hill, the northern part of the Kathmandu Valley. The literally meaning of the temple is an old blue throat. The name Nilakantha given after lord Shiva swallowed the poison, which arose during the Samundra Manthan for Amrit.

Equipment list
The following gives you a general idea of the personal items to be brought by you for Explore Kathmandu tour. The personal items are of individual interest and choice. You must consider the time of the year you traveling.

Personal belongings of the travelers that you may need for the day like money, water bottle, camera, sun cream and toilet paper etc. should be carried by you. So you are briefed to pack items in two different bags.

Recommended Equipment list.

  1. Duffel or Rucksack bag (where you can put all your stuff)
  2. Daypack (this is for you This is a section where you get the general idea equipment that you need in Nepal Vistas. The important and serious part of equipment selection depends on the trekking season, trekking days, and maximum altitude.

Trekkers personal goods such as money purse, cameras, cell phones and the cosmetic items that you need in the day time, while you are hiking. Porter carries others your heavy equipment.

  1. Two pairs nylon-hiking shorts, not cotton!
  2. Underwear, stay away from cotton
  3. Two pairs lightweight long underwear
  4. Pair soft shell pants - synthetic, full zip from top and bottom preferable
  5. A pair cotton pants
  6. Especially for the women a full-length skirt.


  1. At least two pairs of liner socks, synthetic.
  2. A pair light trekking shoes or sneakers

Medicine and First Aid

  1. Ibuprofen for general aches and pains
  2. Pepto Bismol capsules for upset stomach or diarrhea

Miscellaneous, but Important

  1. Passport and extra passport photos (4 copies)
  2. Airline ticket(s)
  3. Visa (if required and acquired in advance)
  4. Immunization record
  5. Durable wallet / pouch for travel documents, money and passport
  6. Lip balm. At least SPF 20, 2 sticks.
  7. Sunscreen. SPF 40 is recommended and should be relatively new since it loses its effectiveness over time
  8. Toiletry kit. Be sure to include toilet paper stored in a plastic bag, hand wipes, and liquid hand sanitizer, towel, soap, etc

The above list guides for you to buy the goods. There are so many options for you, they different brand and version, so it would be better to buy as per your experience. Most of the things are easily available in Kathmandu as well in cheap price.

Please Note The tight fighting clothing such as made with Lycra can often be offensive to locals. So if you find these items comfortable please kindly wear top of them.

I have never thought of myself as a hiker or a trekker, but somehow, the idea of trekking through the Himalayas and venturing through Nepals and the worlds highest mountain seems exhilarating and almost out of reach. I did the trek to Mount Everest Base Camp in October 2013, and it was and still is one of the best experience in my life.
